Woohoo!
I wonder if he would be number one if he stayed healthy.

Triple-Doubles: 1. Oscar Robertson 181 2. Magic Johnson 138 3. Wilt Chamberlain 78 4. Jason Kidd 75 5. Larry Bird 59 6. Fat Lever 48 Other current players: Grant Hill 29 Chris Webber 21 Kobe Bryant 14 Kevin Garnett 13 LeBron James 10 (In case you're curious, Michael Jordan had 28)
From the New York Post...Oscar Robertson will almost certainly remain the only player ever to finish a season averaging a triple-double, but Jason Kidd is actually making a run at it.
After he passed Wilt Chamberlain and set the record with his 79th career triple-double, the point guard stood at 13.3 points per game, 9.6 assists and 8.7 rebounds. While that may sound like he's close, Kidd acknowledged he is still a long way off.
"I'm a ways away,'' said Kidd, who had 12 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds in Monday's win over Memphis at the Meadowlands. "[The average] went up, but I still need 30 rebounds one night to get that far up."
Kidd has been excellent all season, and the fact that he remains off the pace is striking to him.
"That just shows how difficult it is,'' Kidd said after practice yesterday.
The mere fact that there is a conversation about his prospects show what type of player Kidd is and, to head coach Lawrence Frank, how much he has changed.
"His game has evolved,'' said Frank, who first saw Kidd as a high school player when the coach was on Bob Knight's staff at Indiana. "He was impressive. He was dunking."
The high-flying aspect of Kidd's game has now all but disappeared, but he has more than made up for it.
"It's crazy what he does,'' Frank said. "His will is unbelievable. That's what separates him from everyone else."
And while the season-long triple-double might remain out of Kidd's reach, Vince Carter has another goal for his teammate.
"We need Jason to finish with 100 career triple-doubles [this year],'' Carter said.
