Hey guys, just a heads up that Nicolas Batum and Roy Hibbert have been drafted in the 16th round of the Greatest Show.  I would think that neither of these guys should be eligible this year.

One more question.  When will the waiver wire be open with all players available?  Is it possible to make it available after the last picks tonight or sometime before tomorrow's rotation deadline?  Or will it be later this week (which would be totally understandable given the holidays, etc.)?  Thanks

Yeah we got the message that Roy Hibbert was also drafted in the B-League.   Leigh will take care of it when he surfaces...  But man Hibbert sure seems to be ready for some Kentucky Fried Ball!  "Let him play!... Let him play!... Let him play!"

Its pretty easy to open the unrestricted free agents to the waiver wire and I can do it... but I won't be in front of a computer at 8 PM EST.  (Holiday plans).   :(

So I can open it later tonight... probably around 10ish EST.   Cheers ~ k

I'm the one who drafted Batum and Hibbert (as well as Batum in 2 other leagues).  I know full well who they are and that they have not yet been drafted into the show - however, I don't see any reason why I should have these picks removed from my teams.  There's nothing against selecting them in the KFBA rules, which state:

Player Eligibility

Any player on our list is draftable.

If they weren't draftable, they shouldn't have been on the list.  I feel as if I am abiding by the rules, and I would encourage other GM's in other leagues to pick these guys up (as well as maybe DJ White, Hasheem Thabeet, and Dominic James) as Free Agents when the waiver wire opens up.  The way I see it my drafting them is akin to the Knicks picking up Randolph Morris last year - it's a draft loophole.  I'm not sure it would be right to take these picks away as I drafted them within the stated rules of the game.

There have been many comments and announcements that these players, especially Hibbert, aren't eligible to be drafted.  They are only listed due to database issues.  If Hibbert was permitted, he would already be on someone's roster in every league.

In principle, I agree with you.  I think that it should be permitted to draft someone before they join the NBA, kind of like the NHL and Baseball drafts.  Only you'd have to use a roster spot on them.  But it's been consistent KFBA policy not to allow that.

The only reason these guys ever made it into the KFBA database is that we included projected draftees in our first mock draft.   When they decided not to declare for this years NBA draft we proceeded to unrank and de-activate them and have been repeatedly doing so for the better part of 6 months now.   I honestly don't know why they are still available and why we can't seem to fix this issue, but this has been an ongoing problem for several months now.  You are not the first to try and draft Hibbert.

Now it sucks that the rules list some witty line we probably came up with 5 years ago - I agree 100% that they should be clearer.  Now however that the same rules later state that anything in this rule book can be overridden at the Colonel's discretion.

Just an FYI to everybody - eligible players are those that have declared for the NBA draft or are over 22 years of age.  If you want to draft a player that meets these criteria (say some 27 year old euro star or a buddy that maybe played on your highschool team a decade ago) you can request to have him added to the player list.  In order words you are not limited to players that are currenlty on the list.

Sorry to ruin your Christmas, but Hibbert and Batum are not draftable in KFBA - as they have not yet gone through the NBA draft process...

We'll have to remove them from all rosters and replace them with another player...  Nyper, if you have someone in mind - email Leigh your replacement players so he can get them on your rosters at the correct keeper round...  Otherwise we'll just swap in some holder player for you to drop and replace with waiver wire fodder...

Well Colonel et al...I still had a good Christmas :)  I definitely don't want to make a stink over this.  I have no problem with your decision, though I do feel as if I lost out on some other players I may have taken instead b/c of database error, but whaddya gonna do eh?  I already dropped my early entry candidates and replaced them with some other future fodder.  I'd much appreciate it if Leigh could give them the appropriate resign round ranking.

Greatest Show - Saer Sene, and Wilson Chandler (although, if Sene does not have 14th round resign rights, I'll take Rudy Fernandez if available)

Travishamockery - Ian Mahinmi

Even More Cowbell - Ian Mahinmi

Thanks, keep up the good work ;)
