OK, time to start thinking about whose positions need to be changed this year.  The only strong feeling I have is:

Andrea Bargnani, from F to C.  Seems like he's been enshrined as the starting 5 in Toronto, now that the J O'Neal experiment has ended.

Could also make the case for:

-Caron Butler, from F to G.  Mainly cuz we could use more guards, and he swings around.

-Boris Diaw, from F to G.  Same reason.

-Sheed Wallace, from F to C.  New team, new role?  Though I'd bet good money that Perk still starts.

These aren't (necessarily my votes).  Just getting a convo going.  Who have I missed?

Just a warning, the BUCKEYES were a little off last year, but we are a 100% committed this year.

In looking more closely at the rankings I've come up with other possibilities (of questionable significance):

-CJ Miles, from G to F

-Shane Battier, from G to F

-Thabo Sefolosha, from G to F

-Nicholas Batum, from G to F

-Antoine Wright, from F to G

-Channing Frye, from C to F

For what its worth, my overall feeling from last season was that there were finally enough centers to go around (though maybe not enough backups)... but we were short on guards, especially at the top.

That said Battier should almost definitely be a F as should Batum.  (Both play SF a majority of the time).

Thabo and CJ Miles are definitely SGs.

The Raps just paid Torkogly a ton of money so I think they're clearly viewing Bargnani as a Center...

Butler might actually be a SG next season.   Do you think he will start alongside Mike Miller or that Miller will come off the bench?

Diaw played PF mostly for Larry Brown I believe.

I'm cool with making Sheed at C.

I agree with almost all of the Broham's thoughts.  The strongest candidates for a position switch seem to be:

Bargnani (F to C)

Sheed (F to C)

Butler (F to G)

Batum (G to F)

Battier (G to F)

Frye (C to F -- has been referred to as a "stretch four" constantly this off-season)

Anybody else need to be on the ballot?

"Stretch 4" indeed...  Power Three, Point Forward, Scoring Point, Combo Guard, Undersized 4....maybe someday we'll have a game where you have to fill these positions!

I'll take a look and see if anyone sticks out at me.

McDyess is going to start at Center for the Spurs right?

We could also move M. Miller to G and keep Butler at F.  Miler's a little slighter of build.

Hollinger seems inclined to agree with you...  though I've always been under the impresssion Butler was of slighter build than Miller....

"Who's starting in Washington back court next to Arenas? Are they setting up to play small and fast next year with Butler and Jamison up front and a 3 guard rotation?

Maybe they're crazy from the heat. Or the Heat. At any rate, I suspect the Wiz will start Mike Miller at the 2 and then bring Foye off the bench. I'm thinking DeShawn Stevenson is trade bait and McGuire will only see spot duty. No way they're going to put Jamison at 5 and Butler at 4 though -- they'll give up 143 points a game"

Appears you are correct... Butler is listed at 6'7", 228 lbs and Miller at 6'8", 218 lbs...   interestingly both are 29 years old.

As you alluded to in a previous post, it's folly to try to parse out the shooting guards from the small forwards in lots of cases.  Even if Miller is the 2 to Butler's 3, I think I'd be inclined to move Butler (b/c we need more good guards), but I def think we should move one.

How about these?  Just getting up to speed for next season, so apologies if you guys have covered any of these elsewhere.

F to C
- A. Stoudemire - He should have been a C before Shaq arrived.  With Shaq is Cleveland, maybe we can consider making him one now?
- Mahinmi
- Bargnani
- Villanueva - Will he start at the 5 in Detroit?
- R. Wallace

F to G - Generally just think we should have a couple more guards in the 800 to 850 range so I'm picking on some of my favorite swingmen...
- C. Butler
- G. Wallace
- Iguodala
- Pierce

Good suggestions, CI.  To me, Villanueva and his gangly girl arms can't legitimately call himself a center and, as a Sixers fan, I'm hesitant to label Iguodala as anything with "shooting" in its title.  I feel that the following are, in no particular order, the top 8 candidates for a position switch -- taking into account their roles on their respective teams and position scaracity and deducting "who the hell cares" point for guys who have little to no KF impact.

1. Bargnani -- F to C

2. R. Wallace -- F to C

3. Stoudamire -- F to C

4. Frye -- C to F

5. Butler -- F to G

6. Pierce -- F to G

7. G. Wallace -- F to G

8. Batum -- G to F

Does the subcommittee want to vote on these guys?
