Are you going to wait a couple of weeks like last year?
So, am I to understand that we are stuck with "The Final Metaverse" as the permanent front page article on the KFBA site? Will KFBA forever be introduced to the public by a picture of Schottsie with Miami Heat cheerleaders?
The home page articles will disappear at some point. I hope real soon. Sadly I just don't have the programming skills to change the layout of the home page. But ultimately I'd hope to see the previous nights boxscores and most recent posts as we used to see them.
I have started a blog (though it doesn't have many posts yet) and that's where I'll be pontificating on all things KFBA - http://kfba.net/cs/blogs/
If anyone else has interest in getting one going, please let me know and I'll get you setup.
Cheers - k
Might I also make a front page suggestion or two?
1 - The front page should have a simple bullet point explanation of what KFBA is and what makes it different from other so-called fantasy leagues. I also really like the boxscore and board excerpt idea.
2 - You really ought to have a referal bonus next year. At this stage since you are paired down, your best bet of increasing paying customers is word of mouth. Why don't you give each "seasoned" KFBA player a discount code that they can give to friends and relatives to have one free team for one year. I think I would have an easy time convincing a few people to try it out for a year. That would be a great start. If you could track it you could also give the referrer $5 or a KFBA T-shirt....or something if the people they got to try turned into paying customers.
Just a thought.
Good ideas of course.
We'll try something with referals next year. Not worth as much now that you can get unlimited teams for $29 but we'll figure out something.
I was actually thinking of putting any "marketing stuff" (differentiation bullets, tour, quotes, etc.) on the signup page. I figure if someone is new to the site they always hit that page and frankly i get a little tired of seeing it on the front page all the time. But I guess having somethign on there wouldn't hurt.
It can't be as bad as seeing Schottsie on the front page for a year! I don't think you need a lot of info. on the front just a quarter page or so with three or four bullet points.
As for the referals, I think the best idea is the part of giving each seasoned player the discount card that they can hand out. It could be for a $20 credit so that someone that a new person can pay a little for a full membership or just try it out with one free team. I'll bet I could get quite a few folks to try it out with that.
Maybe you could have a contest for the referees. The top two or three referers to the site get a T-shirt and mug.......or something like that. Nothing really costly, just something to add some bragging rights incentive.
Well, I think married life is distracting you. Is your wife pregnant or something? I think you are about 3 weeks behind on your weekly blogs!! Chop Chop.
